Eurosmart at Cartes 2007

Eurosmart Chairman Jacques Seneca opened the World Card Summit on the 13th November with a speech delivering 2007 global figures and the market trends of the smart security industry in 2008. Jacques Seneca also presented the Vision Paper describing possible evolutions by the horizon 2020 and introduced the achievements of Eurosmart experts in the field of security.

The figures show that the market is constantly growing:

-	4.285 billion cards produced in 2007 versus 3.580 billion in 2006
-	Close to 4 billion units microprocessor based smart cards in 2008 representing a healthy 17% growth

The industry is experiencing at the same time big changes, especially with the deployment of contactless applications in Financial Services, Government, Healthcare and Transport:

-	More than 45 million e-Passeports shipped in 2007
-	Healthcare cards projects should be a new driver in 2008 with on going national projects deployment as well as National e-ID with programmes starting in 2008
-	Mobile phones compatible with NFC technology will also be a driver for further use of secure contactless in the coming years

Eurosmart Cocktail was also the occasion to take stock of the achievements of Eurosmart in 2007 and to further discuss with Members the strategy and priorities of the Association for the year to come.

Furthermore, Cartes is every time the occasion for members of ISCAN to meet and to exchange about regional and international strategies.

Eurosmart team welcomed thousands of visitors on the booth and distributed new communication tools of the Association such as 2007-2008 Directory.

With 1700 conventioneers coming from 72 different countries and 21 109 visitors attending the exhibition, Cartes 2007 was this year again a great success !
