Eurosmart General Secretary at World IC Card Summit in China

Eurosmart General Secretary Bruno Dupont was invited to the World IC Card Summit in Beijing from 28th to 30th May to give an overview of Eurosmart activities and present Eurosmart “Vision Paper 2020” to a wide international audience. He also took part to the 3rd China Payment Terminals and EMV Forum and to the e-Passports Forum of China.

All global and National Smart Card linked Associations gathered in the Hall of the people to exchange on their activities and learn more about the Chinese Golden Card Project presented by Chinese officials from various Ministries - 2.5 billion cards have been issued in China for Telecom, Health, ID, Bank and transport applications.

Seminar for the TES Cluster in Brussels, 13-14 June

Eurosmart organises with the support of the Representation of the Basse-Normandie Region a seminar for the TES Cluster dedicated to innovation and R&D programmes on ICT in the European Union. 15 members of the TES Cluster will meet representatives of the European Commission (DG INFSO and REGIO) and of the French Permanent Representation. The French MEP Jean-Paul Gauzes, rapporteur on the Directive on financial services will welcome them at the European Parliament.

Eurosmart supports the implementation of pan–European pilots on e-ID management and e-Health in Europe

On 25th May 2007 the European Commission launched the first call for proposal on the ICT Policy Support Programme which is part of the Competitiveness and Innovation framework Programme (CIP). This programme will support in particular the implementation by EU Member States of large scale pilots for pan-European recognition of electronic identity and EU wide implementation of e-Health services to support continuity of care.

The smart security industry can provide technical information to governments on how to implement such pilots. Eurosmart will organise for this purpose a Technical Day in Brussels gathering industrial experts as well as representatives of the European institutions and national governments to bring accurate explanation relating to interoperability, standards, security, privacy etc.

Eurosmart Form Factor Working Group has finalised its Smart USB Token Report

The group has undertaken a survey on Smart USB Token, defined as “the most convenient personalised, portable and USB connected device which feature authentication, identification, data integrity and non repudiation”. Today, Smart USB Token are one of the fastest growing applications for authentication (30% annual growth rate expected), which is encouraged by the deployment of the PCs and the standardisation of USB and driven mainly by the need for security, portability and convenience.
