Eurosmart is writing its « Vision Paper on Smart Card in 2020 »

The industry needs to address the technology and use cases for the years to come and convince all stakeholders that the smart card technology is the key to online authentication and secure citizenship.
Eurosmart invites experts of the sector to share their vision of the future in a consultation process during November and December 2006, by filling in our questionaire.

The input will be analysed in January and February and the Vision Document released in March 2007.

Eurosmart Chairman Jacques Seneca met key actors of the European scene in Brussels during October 2006

Jacques Seneca met Per Blixt, Head of Unit at the Directorate General Information Society, unit dedicated to eGovernment. Mr Blixt supervises the eID Management Group in charge of defining a roadmap for the end of 2006 to implement coherent eGovernment services throughout Europe in the future.

As the second reading in the European Parliament on the Directive on Driving License is pending, Jacques Seneca met the rapporteur Mr Mathieu Grosch to explain the benefits of the introduction of a microchip onto the license helping Member States fighting against fraud, while ensuring a true freedom of movement to EU drivers.

Eurosmart experts at EU High-level conferences

Eurosmart has been invited to speak at the conference entitled “Maintaining the integrity of identities and payments: Two challenges for fraud prevention" on 23 November 2006, Brussels. This event is organised jointly by DG Justice, Freedom and Security and DG Internal Market as part of an awareness campaign to improve the prevention of identity theft and payment fraud.

Eurosmart will bring its contribution to ENISA workshop dedicated to information security certification on 28 November 2006 in Athens. It is an opportunity to present the achievements of Smart Card Security experts and discuss of coherence Information Security, accreditation and certification schemes in Europe.
