This year again, “Smart Event” was a great success. The event which was co-organised by Eurosmart gathered more than 580 participants (i.e. 22% growth compared to 2006) coming from 40 countries and around 340 organizations and companies. This performance strengthens the position of “Smart Event” as the most attended strategic and scientific forum on the digital security technologies and services.
Eurosmart Chairman Jacques Seneca opened the plenary session by sharing his vision and perspectives on “Smart Security, the new frontier” and presenting to the audience Eurosmart Vision Paper 2020.
Eurosmart experts had the occasion to present their achievements on Security topics and at the World e-ID session, to describe Eurosmart White paper on security into electronic passports, the view of the association on e-Health and the digital signature.
Eurosmart organised on 27 September 2007 in Brussels a Technical Day on e-ID interoperability which brought together experts from the smart security industry together with representatives of national governments and of the European Commission.
The workshop aimed at drawing a clear picture of the situation of e-ID in Europe and to raise awareness of the challenges linked to e-ID interoperability, authentication, standards and security. It was an occasion for the industry to share its expertise and know-how, give advices on interoperability requirements and highlight the advantages and potential of existing middleware technologies for e-ID EU wide systems.
Protection Profiles
The Common Criteria Protection Profile 0035-2007 developed by Eurosmart experts has been certified by the BSI (Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationtechnik).
Eurosmart has been invited by the Porvoo Group to present its point of view regarding e-ID and interoperability to the plenary Porvoo 12 Conference which will be held on 18-19 October in Grosseto, Italy.

EUROSMART - VISION PAPER 2020 AT SMART EVENT
The Vision Paper 2020 was presented by Eurosmart Chairman at the opening session of the plenary of eSmart. The document was given a very good reception.
To go ahead the evolution of our industry, Eurosmart launched a reflection together with a representative panel of experts who widely canvassed opinion via a questionnaire and scrutinized future market needs and consumers expectations.

Eurosmart is co-organiser of Cartes2007 Eurosmart Chairman Jacques Seneca will make the opening speech of the congress at the “World Card Summit” and take part to the panel discussion.
