Eurosmart supports the European Parliament to introduce security requirements in the New Legal Framework for Payments (NLF)

The smart card industry backs up MEPs to improve the proposal of a Directive on payments services in the internal market by adopting a new article 23a) proposed by the rapporteur Jean-Paul Gauzes on “Mutual recognition of security certification of cards and accepting devices” (amendment 367). If adopted by the ECON parliamentary committee on 12 September and in plenary session in October 2006, this amendment will clearly bring an added-value by establishing a common framework for security evaluation and thus suppressing parallel evaluation methods.
