Technical Documents

As part of its activities, Eurosmart Security Working Group provides technical support through the elaboration of documents related to security evaluation and security issues.

Eurosmart Security working Group has been involved since 1997 in the elaboration of Protection Profiles and supporting documents for Common Criteria security evaluation of smart cards.

Common Criteria is an international standard for Information Technology Security Evaluation with mutual recognition. Products are evaluated according to a defined frame by an independent laboratory under the control of a third party called the certifier.

Protection Profiles define implementation-independent set of security requirements for a category of products (e.g. Security device for smart cards) or applications (e.g. Electronic Signature). Such security requirements intended to meet common consumer needs for IT security.

Among others, Eurosmart members have developed the Security IC Platform Protection Profile BSI-PP-0035 that used for the evaluation of Integrated Circuits at high security level with the Common Criteria version 3.1.
