European Commission: Expertise developed by the SOG-IS should be taken into the European schemes

17 October 2017
On 12 October, the Commission presented the proposal for a Regulation on ENISA and on ICT cybersecurity certification to the Committee for Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO). The IMCO Committee has been asked to give an opinion on this file and designated Nicola Danti (S&D, Italy) as a Rapporteur.
The Commission explained that it opted for a voluntary framework because it did not want to create additional costs for the industry, especially for small and medium size companies.
The representative added that the objective was to build on existing mechanisms. The Commission mentioned the intergovernmental framework SOG-IS MRA and explained that it could “use the expertise that has been developed there and take it into the European schemes.”
