The digital society is more than ever undergoing a paradigm shift thanks to the evolution to a more mobile society. The Smart Security Industry remains at the forefront of innovation by providing state-of-the-art solutions such as M2M, NFC and e-Health.
Eurosmart successfully ran Live Demos on Smart Applications at Cartes 2011:
· EM Microelectronic Marin: RF-SIM (First layer of Bluetooth low energy) in a M2M context
· Gemalto: Mobile Financial Services
· Giesecke & Devrient: German Health Insurance (eGK) and Health Professional (HPC) smartcards
· Infineon Technologies: ActiveNFC – Enable NFC in small form factors like microSD and SIM
· Inside Secure: NFC-Gov for New Mobile Authentication
· NXP Semiconductors: NFC Playgrounds
EM Microelectronic Marin’s demo will present a wireless connection allowing data exchange between two devices in close proximity to each other, usually by a few meters. One device is a mobile phone with a RF- SIM inserted, the other device is a USB dongle plugged in a Laptop which is displaying the connection activity. All the RF components are integrated into the SIM card form factor using and an unparalleled embedding technology which makes an effective Bluetooth low energy communication solution targeted for low end segment mobile phones.
Gemalto Mobile Financial Services helps banks, MNOs and service providers leverage the mobile device to increase revenue and expand reach through convenient and innovative solutions. Thanks to the complete offer, customers can benefit from 24/7 access through the most personal device which is always with them.
Providing best-in-class user interface and ensuring the highest levels of security is at the core of Gemalto’s offer. The Company will be showcasing its Mobile Financial Services suite including remote mobile payment, mobile banking as well as mobile NFC.
G&D’s demo shows the online capabilities of the eGK and HPC smartcards. A strong authentication to a web portal or the post issuance personalization process with the help of the Card Application Management System (CAMS) is demonstrated. The CAMS is used for the production and lifecycle management of the eGK rollout process, which is actually the biggest one in Europe.
Small portable form factors like the microSD or the SIM offer a huge opportunity to bring NFC functionality to mobile phones already deployed in the field. Infineon will show a demonstrator using an Antenna Booster technology which overcomes the lack of reliable operation in a wide range of mobile phones which current solutions are suffering from. Implemented in a microSD it demonstrates an NFC payment application when insert in a regular mobile phone.
Inside Secure will demonstrate how NFC allows to easily adapt contactless smartcard identification applications for their needs supporting visual ID inspection, mobile chip-reading authentication, document matching against a database and real-time updates.
NXP’s demo will feature the Enlighten smart poster, showing the capability of NFC technology to provide a unique consumer engagement experience. The portable demo will illustrate commercial applications for smart posters across retail, leisure and other business applications. The opportunity for powerful proximity marketing is limitless and available now.
