European Commission launches public consultation on the NIS Directive

The European Commission launched a public consultation on the NIS Directive.

The public consultation includes questions on the evolution of cyber-threats since the adoption of the Directive (2016), for instance in relation with the growing importance of edge computing. Other questions relate to the scope of the Directive and a potential enlargement of the list of Operators of Essential Services (OES) and Digital Service Providers (DSP). The identification process of OES, CSIRTs and information sharing are other topics addressed in the consultation.

Interested stakeholders can submit an answer until 2 October 2020.

Eurosmart will take part in this consultation process. Eurosmart’s work on the revision of the NIS Directive is ongoing within the CDI Committee. Interested members are welcome to contribute (contact camille.dornier@eurosmart.com).
