Europol and the European Commission launched decryption platform
Last month, Europol and the European Commission launched a decryption platform with the purpose of supporting law enforcement investigations. The EU aims to develop Europol’s capability to decrypt information lawfully obtained in criminal investigations (e.g., fight against terrorism, child sexual abuse) “without limiting or weakening encryption”. The initiative will be available to national law enforcement authorities of all EU Member States.
The platform is funded by the European Commission and operated by Europol.
