Alban Feraud has been an active member of Eurosmart for multiple years, as part of the Board, the CDI Committee, and other sub-entities.

Please find below a message from the new President addressed to all members of Eurosmart.

Dear Eurosmart members,

I am delighted to have been appointed President of Eurosmart.

First of all, from a personal standpoint, I am deeply attached to Eurosmart. This association has always been of the utmost importance to me, as it promotes European industry and advocates for European values, towards the European law/regulation makers (Commission, Parliament, Council, Member States), but also towards the community at large (industry, users, and foreign law/regulation makers).

The years to come are crucial for our industries, with several challenges. From the security perspective, we have to achieve the creation of the ISAC to safeguard security certification of hardware-based products at the highest level. We must also monitor and accompany a secure and smooth transition from the SOG-IS CC scheme to the EU CC scheme. We should not forget IoT, whose market will boom, and support the emergence of a security certification scheme for level “Basic” and “Substantial” pursuant to the CSA. It should meet the needs of our industry – in particular to ensure smooth and efficient certification process but shall not make any compromise when it comes to security level. In that regards, SESIP could be a good candidate. Inputs of the newly launched IoT committee are of the utmost importance to provide inputs and guidance to Eurosmart’s Board. The work of this committee will be instrumental to build a large consensus between Eurosmart members involved on all relevant IoT aspects.

Also, many legislative projects prepared or proposed by the European Commission are of direct relevance for Eurosmart and its members (EUid, NIS, Artificial Intelligence, review of the NLF just to name a few). They shall be closely monitored, and Eurosmart shall have its say on them. Eurosmart can rely on its committees to elaborate key messages and positions, reflecting the interest of our industry.

From the ecosystem perspective, we should also tighten our relations with key stakeholders such as ENISA, DG CONNECT, DG GROW, ECSO, and DG HOME just to name a few. In addition, we should not be frightened to communicate within industrial fora and events as Eurosmart has also a lot to bring.

I will do my utmost to help Eurosmart and you meet these goals.

As a final note, I would like to warmly thank Philippe Proust for his admirable dedication during the previous year

Yours faithfully,

Alban Feraud
President of Eurosmart
