Green certificates: the European Parliament approves the fast-track procedure

Today [25 March], a large majority of Members of the European Parliament voted in favour of the fast-track procedure for the green certificates (proof of vaccination, test or recovery). This fast-track procedure enables a quicker examination of a legislative proposal.

For more information on the proposal, you can consult our previous briefing.

Next step:

Tomorrow [26 March], the Council’s ad hoc working party on the green certificate will meet and discuss the text.

During its next plenary session (26-29 April), the European Parliament will adopt its negotiating mandate to start the negotiations with the Council. This negotiating mandate could include changes to the initial Commission’s proposal. The Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) is the leading committee for this file.
