EU-US Trade and Technology Council will take place as planned

The European Commission confirmed that the first meeting of the EU-US Trade and Technology Council (TTC) will take place on 29 September. There were doubts as to whether it would be postponed or canceled following the submarine crisis. In the end, the European Commission decided to maintain the meeting as planned.

Executive Vice-President Margrethe Vestager and Trade Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis will meet their US counterparts Antony Blinken, US Secretary of State, Gina Raimondo, US Secretary for Commerce, and Ambassador Katherine Tai. The meeting will take place in Pittsburgh.

The TTC will address short-term semiconductor issues. The long-term and strategic issues will be tackled in the TTC dedicated working group. The outcome of the TTC meeting will be a Joint Statement (a briefing on this topic was sent earlier to Eurosmart members).
