EU funding: Quantum, cloud, 5G

Today [12 October], the European Commission opened a series of calls for proposals in the framework of the funding programme Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).

The European Commission will fund projects on the following topics:

-European Quantum Communication Infrastructure – Budget: 90 million euros

-Integration of 5G with edge computing and federated cloud facilities – Budget: 2 million euros

-Preparation of works for Operational digital platforms – Budget 4 million euros

-5G coverage along transport corridors (Studies & Works) - Two calls, budgets: 3 million and 25 million euros respectively

-5G for Smart Communities – Budget: 50 million euros

-Backbone connectivity for Digital Global Gateways – Budget: 100 million euros

-Interconnection of backbone networks for cloud federations (Studies) – Budget: 3 million euros

The deadline to answer these calls is 23 February.
