Context
CEN/CENELEC addressed on 5th April a formal request to DG GROW to delay the delivery date of harmonised standards (hENs). Nine extra months would be necessary for CEN/CENELEC to finalise the harmonised standards, and the date of applicability of the RED delegated act activating the provisions set out in Article 3(3), point (d/e/f), of Directive 2014/53/EU would be delayed from 1st August 2024 to 1st August 2025.

Eurosmart believes that the RED hEN development and edition process in CEN/CENELEC deserve extra time and supports delaying the finalisation of these hENs by at least the time proposed by CEN/CENELEC.
