SUMMARY:Workshop on Face Image Quality
DESCRIPTION:Organised by DHS-OBIM\, NIST\, EAB\, eu-LISA and H2020-project iMARS \nWhen dealing with operational systems\, the quality of biometric samples plays an important role to ensure the usability of the collected data in reference databases. Over the years the biometric community established a common sense about the need of biometric quality assessment. This is also reflected in the standardization work of ISO/IEC JTC1 SC37 and the biometric sample quality standards of ISO/IEC 29794. \nThe aim of this workshop is to discuss the development of a freely available\, portable and expandable implementation of algorithms for quality assessment according to ISO/IEC 29794-1: 2016\, which can be contributions to the face image quality standard ISO/IEC 29794-5: 202x\, which is currently under development. \nThe workshop will provide to all manufacturers and users of biometric systems as well as scientists working in the field of facial biometrics the opportunity to meet and discuss the development of the international standard on face image quality ISO/IEC 29794-5: 202x. We aim to present the current research and state of the art of quality assessment and its evaluation\, and to identify the gaps and the way forward. \nOne objective is to reach a free implementation of an OpenSource Quality Algorithm Software (OS-QA software)\, which can increase the data quality in large scale reference databases. Such algorithms shall provide a unified quality score\, as well as quality vector elements\, which can provide actionable feedback in the capture process. \nThe European Association for Biometrics (EAB) together with the DHS Office of Biometric Identity Management alongside with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)\, European Union Agency for the Operational Management of Large-Scale IT Systems in the Area of Freedom\, Security and Justice (eu-LISA)\, the ISO/IEC JTC1 SC37 working group 3 and the H2020-funded project iMARS are about to organise a workshop to present an update for the latest development on Face Image Quality. This update will address through talks and panel discussions the following topics: \n• current state of the art of face image quality metrics\n• experience from stakeholder and requirements\n• introduction of training concepts\n• testing program (FRVT)\n• standardization process \nThe NIST and the ISO/IEC SC37 WG3 are dedicated to promote ISO/IEC 29794-5. \nFurther information: https://eab.org/events/program/261 \nCo-sponsors of the event:\nNIST: https://pages.nist.gov/frvt/html/frvt_quality.html\neu-LISA: https://www.eulisa.europa.eu/\nISO/IEC JTC1 SC37: https://committee.iso.org/home/jtc1sc37\nISO/IEC 29794-5: https://www.iso.org/standard/81005.html\nEAB: https://eab.org\niMARS: https://imars-project.eu/ \n\n
