Eurosmart welcomes a new member: WISeKey

Brussels, February 29th 2017 – Eurosmart, the European association representing the Smart Security Industry in Brussels, welcomes a new member of our association: WISeKey.

WISeKey has concluded the acquisition of the integrated circuit solutions and semiconductors business from INSIDE Secure in September 20th 2016 which is now WISeKey Semiconductors (originally named Vault-IC). WISeKey is joining Eurosmart through its subsidiary WISeKey Semiconductors and will ensure continuity of the work done in the past through Inside Secure and Atmel.

WISeKey is currently deploying large scale Internet of Things (“IoT”) digital identity ecosystems as well as a Swiss based cryptographic Root of Trust (“RoT”).

This solution enables IoT providers and chipmakers to bring security to connected devices by allowing them to add digital certificates on their chips at the hardware level to encrypt the communication and authenticate the devices. WISeKey has patented this process in the USA as it is currently used by many IoT providers.

At a time of massive deployment of connected devices, Eurosmart is fully committed to the development of political incentives for IoT security and privacy at the European level. Recent cyber-attacks have made security and privacy by design a priority for the Smart Security Industry and policy makers. For these reasons Eurosmart is looking forward to this mutually beneficial cooperation with WISeKey.

WISeKey (SIX Swiss Exchange: WIHN) is a leading cybersecurity company selected as a World Economic Forum Global Growth Company.
